# Folk + Pear MCP guide

## Connection and authentication

Use the authentication method shown for each client surface.

Folk documents custom MCP servers under **Settings → Connections**. Add Pear with
the following values:

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Name | `Pear` |
| URL | `https://pearmcp.com/api/mcp` |
| Key | Your Pear API key |

Paste the Pear API key itself into Folk's key field. Do not use an Apple
app-specific password, Microsoft token, or OAuth client credential. Folk's
official instructions are at

After saving, Folk should load Pear's tools automatically. If it has not refreshed,
send `/reload-mcp` in Folk.

Start with safe reads:

- Ask Folk to check the status of your Pear connections.
- Ask what is on tomorrow's calendar.
- Look up a contact before combining it with a scheduling request.
- Search unread mail and draft a reply for review before sending.

Apple reminder access is limited to the legacy reminder data Apple still exposes
through CalDAV. Pear's hosted CalDAV connection cannot access Apple's upgraded
Reminders store. Microsoft To Do uses Microsoft Graph and is unaffected. See the
