Start with the mailbox you already use.

Connect iCloud or Microsoft 365, or check the mail-only IMAP beta for another provider. See what each connection can actually do before you set it up.

Choose the right connection

Apple iCloud and Microsoft 365 are live provider suites. Compatible IMAP/SMTP is a mail-only beta when enabled. Google Workspace OAuth is coming soon; a Gmail IMAP preset is a separate route where the account permits app passwords.

Available operations depend on account permissions, enabled features, Pear plan and AI client.

Native drafts, attachment handling and write approvals differ by provider and rollout. Ask Pear for the selected account’s provider status and available tools. A send-only connection cannot read an inbox; connecting an IMAP mailbox does not add that provider’s calendar or contacts.

Make the first check small

Connect one account, list its folders and compare five recent message subjects with webmail. Keep credentials in Pear’s connection form. Check the sender, recipients and content before an approved write. If the beta is unavailable, contact support rather than assuming a preset enables it.
