1. Create your Pear account
Sign up at pearmcp.com, then connect Apple iCloud or Microsoft 365. Apple uses an App-Specific Password. Microsoft 365 uses OAuth. Compatible IMAP/SMTP mailbox beta support is available when enabled, and Google Calendar is planned for the same hosted endpoint.

Apple Reminders availability depends on the Apple account. For Apple, Pear can read and write only the legacy reminder lists Apple still exposes through CalDAV. If the account has been upgraded to Apple's newer Reminders store, Pear cannot access those native lists and does not copy them into a separate reminder store. Apple may instead return compatibility placeholders, such as repeated "Where are my reminders?" items; Pear did not create them. Pear's safe fallback hides known placeholders and blocks writes to affected lists. Reconnecting iCloud or replacing the App-Specific Password will not change this Apple limitation. Calendar, Contacts, and Mail are unaffected, and Microsoft To Do uses Microsoft Graph and is unaffected. Full modern Apple Reminders access would require an Apple-platform companion using EventKit with the user's permission; Pear does not currently provide one.
Read the Apple Reminders compatibility note2. Enable Developer mode and add Pear
Pear connects as a custom ChatGPT app backed by a remote MCP server. Developer mode availability depends on your plan, workspace role, and admin policy. Pro currently supports custom MCP apps with read/fetch actions; full write/modify MCP is currently limited to eligible Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces.
- Use ChatGPT on the web. In an eligible account, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and enable Developer mode.
- For managed workspaces, an admin may first need to allow Developer mode from Workspace settings → Permissions & roles → Connected data.
- From Settings → Apps or Workspace settings → Apps, choose Create and enter the Pear remote MCP server URL.
- Choose OAuth when ChatGPT asks for authentication.
- Complete the Pear browser sign-in, then choose Scan tools and create the app.
- Select the Pear draft app from ChatGPT's tools menu in a new chat.
OpenAI changes eligibility and workspace controls over time. Check the current ChatGPT Developer mode requirements if these controls are not visible.
ChatGPT prefers a Client ID Metadata Document (CIMD) when an authorization server advertises support, as Pear does. Pear intentionally has no Dynamic Client Registration endpoint. If a client attempts DCR instead of CIMD, it will fail before Pear can show a login screen; that is an auth-method mismatch, not a bad Pear password.
This guide records a documented setup path, not completed Pear interoperability evidence for the current ChatGPT host build. The named-host lifecycle smoke remains pending.
https://pearmcp.com/api/mcp3. Use Pear in a chat
Start a new chat, enable the Pear app from ChatGPT's tools menu, and try prompts like:
- What is on my calendar today and what should I prepare for?
- Find a free 45-minute slot next week and create the meeting.
- Create Microsoft To Do tasks for these action items, or first confirm Apple exposes a usable legacy CalDAV list.
- Search recent mail from this client and draft a reply I can review.
Keep the app fresh
ChatGPT snapshots the app's tool definitions when it is created or approved. If Pear adds tools or a tool schema changes, refresh the app actions before assuming the connection is broken. ChatGPT may also ask you to confirm sensitive write actions during a conversation.
What Pear unlocks inside ChatGPT
Read/fetch and write availability follows your ChatGPT plan and workspace policy. The actions below require the corresponding app permissions; write actions also require a write-capable ChatGPT workspace.
- Read, create, update, search, and delete calendar events from ChatGPT.
- Manage Microsoft To Do tasks or usable legacy Apple CalDAV reminders and run batch follow-up workflows.
- Search contacts, draft mail, triage unread email, and combine those actions with scheduling.
- Use one hosted MCP app for Apple iCloud, Microsoft 365, and compatible IMAP/SMTP mailbox beta support when enabled.
Best ChatGPT use cases
- Use ChatGPT as an inbox operator: summarize Outlook or iCloud Mail, draft the reply, then send after confirmation.
- Use ChatGPT as a scheduling assistant: check free time, create the event, and write the attendee follow-up.
- Use ChatGPT as a task capture layer: turn chat notes into dated reminders or Microsoft To Do tasks.
