1. Create your Pear account
Sign up at pearmcp.com, then connect Apple iCloud or Microsoft 365. Apple uses an App-Specific Password. Microsoft 365 uses OAuth. Pear can issue API keys for other clients, but Claude custom connectors use Pear OAuth directly.
Sign Up Free2. Add Pear as a custom connector
Claude custom connectors using remote MCP are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, and Anthropic currently labels the feature beta. Free users are limited to one custom connector, and Team or Enterprise organizations need an Owner or Primary Owner to add the connector first.
Free, Pro, and Max plans
- Open Customize -> Connectors.
- Click +, then Add custom connector.
- Paste the Pear server URL.
- Leave client credentials blank so Claude can prefer Pear's advertised CIMD path.
- Click Add, then Connect to authenticate with Pear.
Team and Enterprise plans
An owner adds Pear from Organization settings -> Connectors. After choosing Custom and Web, the owner enters the Pear remote MCP server URL. After that, each member connects Pear from Customize -> Connectors with their own account permissions.
Claude documents CIMD as its preferred automatic registration path when the server advertises CIMD and public-client token authentication, which Pear does. Pear does not expose DCR. A separately pre-registered client remains possible only after Pear publishes and certifies one for the exact Claude path.
This is a documented beta setup path, not completed Pear interoperability evidence for the current Claude host build. The named-host lifecycle smoke remains pending.
https://pearmcp.com/api/mcpAfter setup, enable Pear for a conversation from Claude's connector picker. If a server URL changes later, remove and re-add the custom connector so Claude scans the latest tool definitions.
3. Start using it
Claude can use Pear tools once the connector is enabled in the conversation. Try:
- What meetings do I have today, and which ones need prep?
- Schedule a 30-minute call with Alex on Friday afternoon.
- Show whether my connected provider has a usable task or legacy CalDAV reminder list.
- Search unread mail from today and draft replies I can review.
What Pear unlocks inside Claude
The beta connector exposes only the tools and actions allowed by the current Claude plan, organization policy, connector settings, and tool approvals.
- Create, update, move, search, and delete calendar events directly from Claude.
- Manage Microsoft To Do and usable legacy Apple CalDAV lists, including batch actions and due-date workflows.
- Search contacts, find free time, and combine those with mail actions inside the same connector.
- Use one hosted remote MCP connector for Apple iCloud and Microsoft 365 today.
Claude workflows worth testing
- Ask Claude to compare your calendar, unread mail, and task list before drafting a weekly plan.
- Have Claude find a meeting time, create the event, and write the follow-up email in one conversation.
- Use Claude to turn long project notes into Microsoft To Do tasks or reminders in a usable legacy Apple CalDAV list.
Why Claude + Pear?
Claude is strong at reasoning over messy, multi-step requests. With Pear, that reasoning can turn into finished calendar, task, contact, and mail actions instead of a plan you still have to copy into another app.
